Graduate composition student Ori Barel releases new album, "Small Town," featuring UCSB alumna pianist Kacey Link

Graduate composition student Ori Barel's latest release on the Centaur label features his six-movement work for piano, Small Town, performed by UCSB alumna Kacey Link, who resides and performs regularly in Southern California. The album was released on Friday, May 5, 2017 and is available via Naxos Direct and Amazon.
 
Ori Barel’s music explores various fields including electronic music, chamber music, works for solo instruments and electronics and orchestral music. His chamber music has been performed by The Formalist Quartet, Kacey Link, Timur Bekbosunov, Kobayachi Trio, and The Ear Unit in venues such as MOSA series, Redcat Lounge, Ballhaus, Santandlier Festival, and Beyond Baroque. He holds a B. A. in Music Composition from UCLA and a Master’s Degree from California Institute of the Arts where he studied with Ulrich Krieger, Marc Sabat, and Jon Fink. He is currently a Ph. D. candidate in music composition at the University of California, Santa Barbara studying with Clarence Barlow and Curtis Roads. This new release features his six-movement work for piano, Small Town. Performing for this recording is pianist, Kacey Link, who resides and performs regularly in Southern California. She is music director for Out of the Box Theatre Company, which specializes in edgy, contemporary musicals. She has worked as a pianist for Opera Santa Barbara, University of California, Santa Barbara Department of Theater and Dance, Kansas City Lyric Opera, and New Theatre of Kansas City. She holds degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara; University of Miami; and the University of Kansas.
