Video of UCSB Opera Theatre's February production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro was recently reviewed on Santa Barbara-based arts writer Daniel Kepl's Performing Arts Review: "Featuring a cast and orchestra assembled from the Department of Music’s best and brightest—mostly grad students—and with directorial and additional musical assistance from faculty and guest professionals on stage and in the pit, the excitement on opening night was palpable."

Opera Santa Barbara’s General and Artistic Director, Kostis Protopapas, conducted the production, while Isabel Bayrakdarian (UCSB Assistant Professor of Voice) served as Stage Director and Benjamin Brecher (UCSB Professor of Voice) served as Music Director and Producer. The opera featured many of the program’s top graduate students, including Tyler Reece (Count Almaviva), Julie Davies (Countess Almaviva), Naomi Merer (Susanna), Byron Mayes (Figaro), Kelly Newberry (Cherubino), Molly Clementz (Marcellina), Zach Mendez (Don Curzio/Basilio), Carol Tsai (Barbarina), and Cloe Gentile (chorus member), as well as many talented undergraduates such as Byron Wu (Antonio), and Alexa Lopez, Alexandria Jackson, and Terra Giddens (chorus members), plus Opera Santa Barbara's Scott Levin (Bartolo).
