Tyler Reece, baritone, presents his fourth DMA recital at the University of California, Santa Barbara with pianist Mandee Madrid-Sikich. Together, they will perform Franz Schubert's masterful song cycle, Winterriese (Winter Journey). Written in 1828, the last year of Schubert's life, Winterreise is composed of 24 individual songs that tell the story of a man driven into the wilderness after heartbreak. With each step of the journey, he is forced to reconcile a wave of emotions paralleled in the surrounding terrain. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Karl Geiringer Hall. Admission is free.
