The program will include Philippe Gaubert's Sonata No. 3 for flute and piano, Bohuslav Martinů's Sonata for flute and piano, H. 306; Shulamit Ran's East Wind for solo flute; and Heitor Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras No. 6 for flute and bassoon.

Sylvie Tran is currently in her fourth year at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance under Professor Jill Felber. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sylvie's teachers have also included Valerie Potter, Carla Beauchamp, and Claudia Anderson. Sylvie has performed in masterclasses with flutists such as Trevor Wye, Denis Bouriakov, and Guy Eshed, and has spent her summers studying at Marrowstone Music Festival, Aria International Summer Academy, Rocky Ridge Music Center, and Sandia Music Festival.

Sylvie is active in the UCSB music department, where she is a member of the University Wind Ensemble, University Chamber Orchestra, and UCSB Scholarship Woodwind Quintet, and studies piano with Professor Paul Berkowitz. She looks forward to beginning doctoral studies in music theory at the University of Michigan this fall.
