Professor Jill Felber will be featured as a performer and clinician at the 46th annual National Flute Association Convention in Orlando, Florida on August 9-12. As a member of the ZAWA! flute duo, Professor Felber will perform and discuss works by Edison Denisov, Linda Holland, and John Rommereim with duo partner Claudia Anderson on Thursday, August 9th. ZAWA! and current members and alumni of the University of Northern Iowa Flute Choir will be featured on Thursday evening’s Gala Concert in a performance of Cynthia Folio’s Winds for Change for two solo flutes, flute choir, and percussionist, with live electronic manipulation of the solo flutes. Commissioned by ZAWA! in 2014 as a way to bring awareness to climate change, the captivating piece incorporates sound clips from nature such as whale songs, rain, and wind.
Known for her exquisite expression and inspirational approach to teaching, Professor Felber will also present a clinic titled “EXTREME mini-MAKEOVER: FLUTE EDITION” on Saturday, August 11th. Professor Felber will guide attendees through highlights of her renowned “EXTREME MAKEOVER: FLUTE EDITION” seminar, which features specially-curated exercises designed to transform the playing of flutists.
