If you need to request approval for a short absence (up to one week) during term time to give a lecture, performance, or some other university-related activity, then please write to Chair Helen Morales ( directly with the following:

*The dates and reason for your absence.

*Details of arrangements that you have made to cover your teaching and mentoring duties (canceling classes will not be OK and if you reschedule a class I will need to know that all the students can attend the rescheduled time and are happy with arrangements).
*An emergency contact name and number that can be reached during your absence

If you need to request more than a week’s absence during term time for work reasons you will need the HFA Dean’s approval, including a memo from the Chair, and you should write to AP Coordinator Yasmine Ibrahim ( and Chair Helen Morales (  with the above information.
