Bio

Michel Marc Gervais served as Director of Choral Studies and Co-Chair of Conducting at UC Santa Barbara. His research areas include choral performance with emphasis on the a cappella choral tradition, and vocal and choral education of children's and adult voices in North America, Western and Eastern Europe. He is the founder of one of Canada's three professional choirs (Pro Coro Canada) and several international choir schools (Schola Cantorum at Alberta College in Canada, the Maîtrise Nationale at the Royal Chapel of the Château de Versailles and the new choir school at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris). He has collaborated with choral ensembles, choral schools and orchestras world-wide, and has participated in radio, television and disc recordings in Canada, Sweden, Germany and France. He was decorated Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the Republic of France and is currently also Director of the International Summer Academy of Choral Conducting in France.
