Bio
Paul Bambach is Senior Lecturer in Clarinet and Director of the University Wind Ensemble at the University of California, Santa Barbara. As clarinetist, Mr. Bambach is a Yamaha Artist and Clinician and has been a solo performer, teacher, coach, adjudicator, and clinician throughout the United States and Europe, including the Montanea Festival Summer Music Institute and International Composer’s Conference (Talloires, France), the Adriatic Chamber Music Festival (Termoli, Italy), and the International Studies Institute (Florence, Italy). He has recorded for Battery Records, New World Records, CRI, and National Public Radio, and has been a member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (Ohio) since 1975. An active local freelancer, he is former principal clarinet of the Santa Barbara Grand Opera, the Santa Barbara Symphony, the Santa Barbara Chorale Society and the Santa Barbara Master Chorale. His most influential clarinet instructors are Marshall Haddock, Carmine Campione, Theodore Johnson and Robert Marcellus. Mr. Bambach has also been a frequent guest conductor, having appeared in that capacity with the Santa Barbara Junior High School Honor Band, the Santa Barbara High School Honor Band, the Central Coast Section High School Honor Band, the Santa Barbara Nick Rail Summer Band Camp, the Adriatic Chamber Music Festival (Bonefro, Italy), and the Miami Valley Academy Summer Camp (Ohio).
