Bio

Chet Stussy is a doctoral candidate in musicology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research interests focus on intersections between early sound recording technologies, musical instrument construction, and trends in popular music in the United States between 1890 and 1930. Additional interests include the history of Western music theory from the medieval era to the twentieth century. Chet has written program notes for the Music Academy of the West, an institution where he has also served as Assistant Librarian. He received his B.A. in Music from Westmont College and his M.A. in Music from UCSB.

Chet is a member of the American Musicological Society, American Musical Instrument Society, Association for Recorded Sound Collections, and the Antique Phonograph Society. He is also an enthusiastic amateur recorder player.
