Pamela Mason-Nguyen is pursuing her Ph.D in Music Theory at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research interests include ludomusicology, semiotics, musical imagery, and Japanese minimalism. In May of 2022, she presented at the Eighth International Conference on Music and Minimalism on “Takada in Fox’s Clothing: Musical Possession in Le Renard Bleu.”
Pamela previously earned her Bachelor of Arts at Nazareth College and Master of Music in Music Theory at Bowling Green State University. Her master’s portfolio examined two varied interests: Toru Takemitsu’s musical eulogy and tribute to Olivier Messiaen, and diegetic implications present in the introductions to Kingdom Hearts games.
