Course Description
UCSB Opera Theatre gives students the opportunity to work with Voice Faculty and guest professionals actively working in the field, including stage directors, conductors, designers, and other members of the creative team, in fully staged opera productions on campus and Opera Outreach performances in the Santa Barbara community. Students perform principal and supporting roles as well as ensemble and chorus parts, gaining hands-on experience in the rehearsal and production process. Through this collaborative work, students develop their vocal and dramatic skills, stagecraft, musicianship, and professional rehearsal practices while learning what it means to be part of a complete theatrical production. This practical experience helps prepare students for the expectations of professional opera and the broader performing arts industry.
