Course Description
Opera Workshop gives students the opportunity to work closely with UCSB Voice Faculty in the preparation and performance of complete operas and/or selected opera scenes. Productions are typically presented during the Winter or Spring quarters, either in staged performances at UCSB or through Opera Outreach performances in the Santa Barbara community. Undergraduate voice majors may be cast in principal roles, while other participating students gain valuable stage and ensemble experience through supporting roles and/or chorus assignments. Through the rehearsal and performance process, students develop their vocal and dramatic skills, stagecraft, musicianship, and experience collaborating as part of an operatic ensemble.
