Bio

Tomoe Hayashi Tsai graduated from the Department of Music at the University of California at Santa Barbara as a Bachelor of Music Piano Performance Major in 2002. Tomoe was a student of Dr. Charles Asche. She was the recipient of the Carnzu Clark Scholarship, and also the Erno Daniel Memorial Award. She was also presented with the Jack and Elly Nadel Piano Award. Tomoe was the recipient of the Music Affiliates Quarterly Performance Award, and also received the first prize in the Performing Arts Scholarship Competition.

Ms. Hayashi attended the University of Houston Moores School of Music from which she received her M.M. degree in 2004. Her teachers were Ruth Tomfohrde and Horacio GutiƩrrez. Upon completing her M.M. degree she was immediately hired as a Lead Accompanist by the Houston Ballet Company. She has held this position for the past sixteen years and continues to play for intensive summer classes, master classes and regular company and academy classes. Tomoe also maintains a thriving private studio in Houston in which she teaches all age levels from beginning to adults.
